This class will explore the true nature of the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and debunk the narratives that the bombings were necessary, justified or excusable in any way. We will also go over the background of World War 2 and nuclear research that led up to the atomic bombings, and also examine the aftermath of the bombings and how they changed the world forever, drawing comparisons to the present nuclear crisis. This class comes 78 years after the atomic bombings, but they are just as relevant now as they were then, and we will mourn and honor the victims of the bombings.
If you’re new to PSMLS, the school provides free public collective education every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays on a variety of topics from a Marxist-Leninist perspective. You don’t have to be a member of anything or identify as any certain ideology to attend. The PSMLS is a Party of Communists USA initiated and sponsored school, but it is not a party school, which is great because it allows for a wide variety of different perspectives and opinions to be brought forth which don’t necessarily reflect the party line.
